In this richly textured double bill, Ballet d’Jčrri returns to Guernsey with one of the very darkest chapters of the Channel Islands History. Deemed as the witch hunting capital of Atlantic Europe, sixty-five Jersey people alone were tried for witchcraft between 1560 and 1660.
Two world class female choreographers, Vidya Patel and Katya Bourvis dive deep into this historical moment, bringing it to life with their own distinct voices in a whirlwind of fractured narrative, emotion, abstraction, and breathtaking movement.
Guided by Jersey scholar and writer Dr Adam Perchard, they use this history to pose urgent questions about the time we live in now. Whose world might it be- The Witches’ or ours?
